Quantum Vitalscan is a battery powered and portable medical device that can be used in a routine and acute hospital setting whilst maintaining the accuracy and efficacy of the older technology SQUID devices.
Utilizing new imaging technology the Quantum Imaging device performs a simple and passive scan at the patient’s bedside in around 3-5 minutes. The device produces a trace, numerical data and a 2D visual magnetic field map of the heart to aid healthcare professionals in the triage of patients presenting with chest pain.
Cells in the heart that lack oxygen (ischaemic) or are necrotic distort the data points picked up by the device, this can then clearly be seen in the resulting trace and map.
The Quantum Vitalscan can be used by emergency room staff with very little additional training to that needed to perform a routine ECG.
1. Easy to use
Testing is completely passive and requires very little training to perform, allowing healthcare professionals to spend time with their patient rather than relying on specialist operators to be on site.
2. Rapid diagnostics
The Quantum Vitalscan is a simple 3 – 5 minute RULE OUT test that produces results on site with very high Negative Predictive Value. Healthcare professionals can confidently identify non cardiac patients early in the triage process without waiting for inconclusive lab results.
Without the need for dedicated and expensive facilities and liquid helium cooling, the device can be deployed straight to a patient’s bedside.
Quantum Vitalscan is designed to negotiate the busy Emergency Department to ensure the diagnostic value of magnetic field maps can be utilized where needed in the initial triage of patients presenting with chest pain.
The device is deployed to the patient’s bedside and the sensor head is positioned over the patient’s chest. The test is entirely non-invasive and passive and most patients can be scanned through clothing.
Relatives and others supporting the patient can be present through the entire procedure, with scans typically taking between 3 and 5 minutes, dependent on the patient. Reports can be reviewed on the device or on an optional external workstation.
Once completed the scan head can be re-stowed and the complete device can be removed from the immediate clinical area to allow patient triage to continue.
